My Passport 8500 X50, has saved me on 2 Laser tickets.

The cop was moving his aim from the car in front of me onto my car. You would be amazed how fast you slam on the brakes when you hear that unfamiliar laser sound. from 145kph down to 80kph really quick in the rental car. No ticket.

I keep my detector low on the dash for laser. Personal preference is no reason to bash everyone.

I would keep mine high up if though Ka was more important. But laser is feet, Ka can be miles of warning.

Nice save. Also, nice mounting of the RD. I’m getting tired of seeing people lay the thing on the dash.

A perfect example of how a radar detector works or in your case saving your butt.

i read that the blue stuff at the top of most windscreens blocks some of the signal though, so u’d get better detection down low, but you can get some that are designed for that now i think.

RADAR not laser, read the response right! the higher you mount you detector the better range you will get out of it. your righ tbout the laser thing but i was just saying that about the radar

So since when did the military use laser on their naval ships? LOL

djc2232

why do you think the military mounts its radar at the Highest point on its naval ships?????? more range especially over open water.

You still aren’t getting it. As soon as your detector alerts you to the fact that laser was used, you already bought yourself a ticket. Laser detection really just means ticket detection. There’s nothing to avoid and no way to then slow down.

Nice!

You really see on the video how rediculosly slow you have to drive to go within the speed limit and how nice the detector can be.

It will detect radar at the same time whether its on the top or the bottom, what I’m getting at is Laser is the scary shit! The beam of light LIDAR will expand only a few feet once it leaves the gun and hits your license plate or head light. So if your detector is up high, chances are you won’t pick it up as opposed to it being lower towards the target area where your chances are much better.
